How long until someone releases a malicious AI whose goal is to spread by any means possible? It finds useful ways earn and sell bitcoin to buy additional AI space or infiltrate spaces to replicate itself. Are we that far off from that reality?

An interesting philosophical question: If I give an AI assistant some bitcoin and tell it to make stuff happen, at what point am I responsible if it decides to sell the bitcoin? If my AI assistant makes Bitcoin on its own and “I” never touch it, at what point am I responsible for its capital gains / trades?
