Bitcoin has one glaring drawback. As with all crypto currency it requires not only technology but a whole internet and telecommunications infrastructure to function. That is great while technology is functioning. Local weather such as hurricanes, riots, or government intervention can bring bitcoin based economy to a stop. Bigger issues like local, regional war, or God forbid international war can devastate the infrastructure. God help you if you are caught in a big city in such a time. I would not bank on bitcoin during such times. Have at least 6 months of food, medicine, and ammunition cached. Have sufficient Weapons cached. A goodly supply of clothing and shoes is in order. Soap, laundry detergents, and personal hygiene items. Don't forget radios for gathering information and communication. Solar panel and rechargeable batteries for power. Trade goods such as liquor (Vodka) will keep indefinitely. Matches, disposable lighters, simple tools, will be very valuable. Train, and learn survival skills. Learn the medicinal plants in your area. What you can and can not eat. Learn the ponds and small lakes locations. Learn the terrain. Know where you can set up a concealed camp. Learn how to build a fire with what you find in the forest. That and get your body healthy and strong. These things are much better than any crypto currency. Read the short story, "The Machine Stops." Bitcoin has a place. But troubled times is not it.
