This is the first year in 10 years of sobriety where I did not make a post on centralized social media about it.
In some ways that’s trivial, in other ways it’s me breaking free of that world.
I downloaded all my photos from
Instagram and am soon to delete the account. One by one, inching my way towards Nostr maximalism.
Kinda like selling off the last of your shitcoins and committing to something meaningful.

Today marks 10 years of sobriety for me. 10, fucking, years. In one sense it feels remarkable, and in another sense, completely mundane.
For 10 consecutive years, each day, I’ve chosen to be more present to my reality. Problems arise, and I choose to face them rather than drink or drug them away.
My reality for so long consisted of waking up to a drink. It was a physical necessity in the latter years of drinking.
To have escaped that hell is something I’m forever grateful for, and I’m grateful for all the helping hands that pulled me up out of that hole.
It’s a day of reflection, and also at the same time, just another day. But another day is quite a gift, innit?
If you’re in North America and want to go to bed early tonight, just find a countdown from Newfoundland and then call it a night. It will be midnight there at 9:30pm here. I get to keep my regular bedtime.
In 2025, I set a major goal for myself. I took a risk, left a “comfortable” job, albeit a soul crushing one. I manifested a place for myself within a group of mission driven people. Were there things that didn’t go my way this past year? Absolutely.
But this thing I set out to do, I did. It feels good.
I have a new main goal for 2026 and I intend to manifest that into my life as well.
I also intend to put much more energy into Nostr.
You can just do shit.
Merry Christmas to you all!

Anyone have any opinions on Libre Office privacy/safety? I used to use it years ago but haven’t paid much attention recently.
Did you know there’s still some ETH MFs talking about the flippening? Maybe just the ones with big ol’ pre-mined bags.

Seeing the prevalence of e-bikes and e-scooters in North American cities doesn’t make me hopeful for western obesity. Use it or lose it, they say.
Nova Scotia closed the woods and people are just like, cool cool.

I’ll never understand the people who complain that bitcoin has failed because of ETFs, treasury companies, government interest etc.
I’m still out here spending fuckin sats and playing with freedom tools. It works. Stfu. Cry harder, etc.
The Newfies knew:
“The Newfoundland experience well into the nineteenth century was not that of lawful colonists building up the civic institutions of a state, but one of rugged individualists, shy of all civic authority. Even in the 1930s, the Englishmen on the Amulree Royal Commission who were sent out from London to determine the political and financial circumstances of the island were shocked to find hardly any municipal government outside the city of St. John’s”

Yesterday, in a fairly normie group chat I’m in for skateboarding, I posted a meme about taxation and cheekily said “Taxation is theft”. What followed was me being berated about how good government programs in Canada are, and yes, they even brought up “Who will build the roads”.
But what was most striking was the ad hoc arguments on my character/personality. I’m not denying I can be an asshole. The truth just hurts sometimes. There was a clear unwillingness to have a real conversation.
They all defended taxation adamantly with very little criticism of the system. I imagined even the most lefty tax payer would complain about upwards of 40% of their salaries going to the government each year. But they seemed very content with it.

The quiet part has been officially said out loud.
“It’s kinda like early ICOs where you have like a posse of people you bring into the token”.

With each passing day I become more and more hardened in the political ideology of “leave me the fuck alone and stop bombing people”.

Travelling through 🇺🇸 and felt obliged to do the animal style at In-N-Out to honor the culture of the locals. I also chose to spell honor in their customary manner.
Next burger will be Steak-N-Shake paid with lightning. Maybe I’ll use the Primal wallet just to say I did.
Here’s hoping I don’t leave the U.S. fat in a few weeks.
