I only have this screenshot to go by and I can't be bothered looking up the article, but it wouldn't surprise me that that these things appear to get dumber the more you try to cram them full of information because they have no actual intelligence to parse all that data - it's just looking for patterns. This is intelligence as defined by the "97% of scientists agree" crowd. But hey - the fact that they've managed to build a computer that can't do maths is an incredible achievement in itself. image

Vecchio's "Afro Rock" is one of the more sought-after library records of the 70s and for good reason. It's a sensational piece of jazz rock, similar in some ways to Mandingo but with a slightly smaller band and more emphasis on soloing. Luis Vecchio did one more album in the late 70s (also worth checking out) and then apparently became something of a con artist according to the comments below a blog post I read on him back in the day. The thread was a strange mix of people lauding "Afro Rock" as the greatest library album of all time and others vowing to piss on his grave because he bilked their grandma out of $50k. #jazzstr

I just learned that Peter Brotzmann died recently, which is a damn shame. "Machine Gun" is a monster of an album which strips free jazz of a lot of it's spiritual posturing to revel in sheer aggression and the closing 30 seconds, where the band suddenly lurches into a ragged but distinct theme, is one of the coolest moments in jazz. #jazzstr #noistr

This is easily the wildest and heaviest big-band funk release of the 1970s. Equal parts Lalo Schiffrin and Sun Ra, it features a wide array of the sort of instruments you'd normally find on an exotica record, along with Moog, guitars and a fat, FAT horn section. I have the quadraphonic version on vinyl but sadly have never had the chance to listen to it through a quad system. Still, even in stereo it's one of the coolest records I own. #noistr

"Relayer" is the best Yes album and it's not even close. #progstr image

People who think there won't be any more Indiana Jones films have obviously forgotten about Fred Astaire dancing with a vacuum cleaner.

How stupid (or disingenuous) would you have to be to sign up for Zuck's latest piece of malware and then complain about being censored. Censorship is the only reason this piece of shit app exists. image

I say again, if the mass adoption of Bitcoin effectively mandates smart phone ownership then it fixes nothing and will ultimately be little better than a CBDC. image

Those who question whether the Americans would seek to destabilize the governement of an ostensible ally like France would do well to read up on the time they overthrew the Australia government back in the 70s. John Pilger (yes, I know, but stopped clocks and all that) sketches it out here. He doesn't mention that the coup couldn't have occurred without the collaboration of Bob Hawke, at that time the head of Australia's union movement, who refused to call a general strike which might've neutralized the plot. Within a decade, Hawk would be parachuted into the office of Prime Minister and decades later we'd learn that our most cartoonishly Australian leader was in fact an American agent.
