Dragged a dead payphone out of the grave and shocked it back to life. Restored the light in the stand, now it’s proudly glowing like it did in the ’80s. Inside, it’s a Frankenstein mix of analog guts and digital soul making this phone hum again. For the DIYers: the system flow goes Analog POTS module → Grandstream HT801 → Raspberry Pi running the 3CX SBC → 3CX PBX / VoIP grid in the cloud. 3CX is the MVP here. Made this $25 DIY gadget I learned about while at DEFCON. the Rayhunter, It’s basically a sniffer for fake cell towers and a Stingray/IMSI-catcher detector. It lights up red when something sketchy tries to ping your phone or pull a man-in-the-middle. In other words, if Big Brother (or some wannabe spook) starts fishing for your signal, this little guy gives you a heads up. The project was started by the EFF.
