Has anyone here given #childbirth in #uruguay ?
We have some questions
At one point we were considering the Falkland Islands π¬π§π¦π·. Our baby could get two citizenships at birth (Argentina + UK).
It turns out that it is not that straightforwarrd - it's possible, but you need to be an actual permanent resident to be eligible.
And the Falklands are pretty small - populations is < 5k and healthcare facilities are limited.

Review of https://reluy.com/
We contacted this firm for help with some questions around childbirth in Uruguay. We received no reply after 3 emails, so we asked a friend if they could reach out by whatsapp. We got a quick response, and booked a 1 hr consultation for 250 USD, which we were able to pay in Bitcoin.
They offered a consultation on Zoom, which we really weren't comfortable with, but they refused to use our preferred (open source) video conference solution.
They were 10 minutes late joining the call, and we quickly learned that the specialist did not speak English (only Russian). However there was a translator.
We had some back and forth with various questions, and we were advised that having an un-stabbed baby was really not an option. She did say that the vaccines were manufactured in Uruguay, and were "very good vaccines".
Changing topic, we asked some residence / tax related questions (apparently uruguay is not a territorial tax jurisdiction), but the advisor was not a tax expert and could not help further.
Our translator was smoking a cigarette during the call. We were then told that due to "zoom rules" we needed to break the call for 10 minutes so they could start the call again.
We politely declined and thanked them for their time.

ππΆπ Weβre a couple from the EUSSR who recently discovered that weβre contributing a +1 to the world, sometime next year π
It turns out that this is not such an easy thing to plan or prepare for.
We are currently trying to optimise for the following variables:
πͺͺ Multiple passports at birth (or shortly thereafter)
π«π Zero vaccinations
π₯ Good healthcare
We've already done plenty of research, and had calls with various "specialists". In future posts we'd like to share what we have found, and hopefully learn from the experience of those in the community who have been there / done that.
In the EU it's completely acceptable to say "no thanks" to vaccinations, but in South America (where all the decent Jus Solis jurisdictions exist), it's basically mandatory to have your baby stabbed at birth!
