I turn 40 today. So I guess it's time for an obligatory Birthday Post. "Today, I turn 40. It’s easy to focus on the things I haven’t done yet, the dreams still waiting to be chased. But as I reflect, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for everything I have experienced—the people I’ve met, the lessons I’ve learned, and the moments that have shaped me. Life is far from perfect, but it’s been beautiful in its own way. They say life begins at 40, and I’m ready to embrace it with open arms. Facilitating a Bitcoin LARP

Twelve days into trying out oil pulling. Managed to get to 17 minutes twice. It's tough. I can floss much easier now, and I'm seeing less plaque buildup. Nothing dramatic yet. But I suspect you can get the same result if you swish and pull anything for 15 minutes.

Spending on a sound money standard happens after a certain 'maturity' period. The more people save today, the more they can, and will, spend in the future. Deferred consumption is very different from consumption sacrifice, as the former merely postpones consumption while the latter involves willingly and intentionally giving up or incurring a cost in terms of money, time, or preference. Consumption sacrifice represents a permanent forfeiture of consumption rather than just delaying it to a future date. This is something Keynesians are not willing to understand as it complicates the use of monetary and fiscal policies. Lower your time preference does not equate to abandoning your time preference. Life is easier under the bitcoin standard.

It's Friday again, and in a few hours it will be the time Mina passed again. You get stuck thinking "if I had done that, if I hadn't done this, then things would've been different." and it's really not productive at all. But if I had stayed with her just a minute longer, if I hadn't moved my interview to 4:30pm, if I finish my interview just ten minutes earlier, she would still be here, lying on my feet, curling up by the window, watrching birds walking about in the backyard. Everything happened so fast. We have only been together for 8 months but she was such a special puppy. So I'm just posting this here, a safe space. I miss you, Mina. Kamin is still crying herself to bed every night but we'll get over it, don't worry.
