Linux why can’t I quit you
so for nearly a year or so I have been on a mission to move over to a more private way of living. I’ve moved from windows to Linux and tried around ten or so distros, Debian is still up there as a favourite of mine but just lately I have been using openmandriva and I have a kinda new favourite or a definite second place I’m not quite sure yet.
Openmandriva has a lot to offer and I must admit I do like the rolling release over a two year cycle as I’m a tech head and getting new stuff is a great thing to me. But saying that I’ve found it to be a little more fiddly over Debian to get working, things like using the fedora repo is brilliant and access to flatpak is fast but I find flatpak software won’t open at first try and then you need flat seal to change things or maybe it’s the firewall blocking it, yes I know these ain’t deal breakers but after using Debian for a long while it just seems a pain.
I went for the wayland install which does add some benefits but this also breaks software at times, when I reinstall I’m gonna add x11 support this time. I had to go back to windows for a week while I got some backups and sorted some stuff out and trust me I’m heading straight back to Linux and even possibly tonight.
As I’m writing this I’m seeing my clearly the way I need to set it up on this next install. I really do love the speed and performance on openmandriva and my battery life on my laptop blows windows 11 out of the water, fedora made my laptop basically fry itself and arch Linux seems to freeze up every time I use it, which I know now I should be using the lts Linux kernel to get a better experience.
There is just something about openmandriva that I love, it just flys on my laptop and I know I said about a few things that bugged me but I love a learning curve and I get draw to getting back on and sorting it out. But that reminds me I really need to give arch another try
thanks for taking the time to read my little post and I hope you are all doing well
#linux #openmandriva
#kde is awesome and I can’t wait to see more in the future
