Has anyone built an app/product designed specifically for businesses in tip-heavy industries like bars, clubs, music venues, restaurants, etc?
I’m imagining the owner/operator of the business sets up and administers a “main node” (perhaps node isn’t the right word here). On the main node, they can set policies around the handling the payments for all the customer transactions that evening. They have the ability to spin up or associate an arbitrary number of child nodes/wallets. Those children could be the serving staff, the musicians playing that night, the bouncers, the kitchen staff, or whoever else they want.
Policies could be, for example:
* The 6 servers keep their own tips
* The 3 bartenders’ tips get pooled, so each gets ~33% of the day’s bar tips
* the 5 musicians collectively get 10% of the bar and 60% of the door, so individually the get 2% of the bar and 12% of the door
* The doorfolks get 2% of the door
* And so on…
As each of these specific types of payments come into the main node the policies are applied and then routed to each individual’s wallet.
Seems like this would reduce the daily accounting tasks, you wouldn’t have to tip folks out as shifts end, plus you could update the policies in a transparent manner based on business needs and seasonality. For example, during the busy season servers get to keep their own tips and in the slow season they pool tips because not everyone is getting tables.
I think this could be accomplished using a Fedimint but also wondering if this is theoretically possible with lightning itself. Perhaps none of this will really work until bitcoin is the standard, but just curious if anyone has/is working something similar.
