"Rejecting authority in regard to knowledge was not just a matter of abstract analysis. It was a necessary condition for progress, because, before the Enlightenment, it was generally believed that everything important that was knowable had already been discovered, and was enshrined in authoritative sources such as ancient writings and traditional assumptions."

Once you let @Jeff Booth ‘s point sink in that everything should be getting cheaper as human tech advances the magnitude of fiat theft by politicians can’t be unseen. It just doesn’t make sense for things to get more expensive.

Highly recommend Dan Carlin’s Supernova in the East series. So much history, so many atrocities, most of which are forgotten. So much background that helps shed light on today’s conflicts. People have forgotten - which is why the “turnings” exist.

VCs are totally paralyzed. And yet, if you know how to structure a deal, this is the time to make the investments of a lifetime.
I wonder how long the armchair crew will manage to stick around.
Tried OpenAI's math mentor. The drawing made me laugh out loud 😂

I get this uncanny sense of Deja Vue when reading Ayn Rand

Luke is outstanding as usual. Great show. View quoted note →
This is a great episode by @preston and @ryanthegentry on why #Bitcoin the network is so fundamentally important. The mainstream doesn’t have this on the radar at all.

Spent a few days in Miami, mostly Brickell. Weird dystopian vibe of cheap money and obvious ill-gotten gains flaunted in excess. Bad infrastructure, but green lambos, pink Rolls Royces, nearly everyone with modified bodies. And not a single primary industry powerhouse in sight.
Won’t be a pretty sight when the tide goes out.

Thanks for writing it Lyn - I really enjoy reading it.
FWIW: always thought it’s nuts how cheap books are. So much condensed work and knowledge for 20-50k Sats. View quoted note →
Excellent episode on why nuclear is so much more expensive in the west vs Asia and Russia. Our “leaders” would do well to familiarize themselves with the basics of energy production.

Any inspirational children’s books recommendations for 10-12 year olds?
Mine loved Potter, likes Narnia.
The people I struggle most with are those who consider themselves to be victims. For most, it’s a way to blame others and never take accountability for their own happiness.
Every single individual in this article is a professor, bureaucrat, or other 🤡 who never made money and collects their salary from taxes paid by those they expect to cough up 100tn. Can’t make it up.

This episode is so good. @Lyn Alden you’ve got to be one of the most articulate, thoughtful, and well read monetary experts (is that the right term???). Can wait for the kindle version.
👏👏👏
