Another great clip from WiM625 about the difference between crypto people and #Bitcoin people. "It's more about owning our time rather than owning things, and I think that's because we realize; we learn what money is, and we learn that money is time, and so since money is time that's what we care about, and so we don't need all these other things to fill holes in our lives, which mostly possessions largely do". - Terence Michael Listen to the clip 👉 https://fountain.fm/clip/zkXUw2YYNIyWaCXyU0A0

A book I’m reading, The Men We Need by Brant Hansen, has a great quote by the Greek philosopher Heraclitus. This quote is applicable today as it was 2500 years ago, and summarizes how our ever evolving life intersects with our ever changing society. “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man .” https://bakerpublishinggroup.com/products/9780801094521_the-men-we-need?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=c21734cf6&pr_rec_pid=7490267906125&pr_ref_pid=7490283470925&pr_seq=uniform

Great piece by Jeffrey A. Tucker via The Epoch Times about F.A. Hayek and his popular book, The Road to Serfdom. A particular striking paragraph in Tucker's piece is the following quote of Hayek: “The word ‘truth’ itself ceases to have its old meaning. It describes no longer something to be found, with the individual conscience as the sole arbiter of whether in any particular instance the evidence (or the standing of those proclaiming it) warrants a belief; it becomes something to be laid down by authority, something which has to be believed in the interest of the unity of the organized effort and which may have to be altered as the exigencies of this organized effort require it.” When I think about the quote above, and the government's response to #Covid, pieces of the Covid puzzle start to connect. Tucker asserts, "There are many such postulates around today, points that you are supposed to believe even though you might have doubts about the evidence. Public health is a good example. The wars over vaccines are no longer about health; they are about compliance and shame for those who have doubts". The final piece that completes the puzzle is concluded towards the end of Tucker's piece, yet leads me looking for the beginning of the next puzzle: the implementation of totalitarian at the next level. "A mark of the danger always comes with the demand that you must believe such and such in order to be a good citizen and a contributor to the grand project. Hayek’s three elements—ideology, propaganda, and censorship—are the signs that someone is attempting to curate the public mind for totalitarian purposes". https://www.zerohedge.com/political/who-controls-public-mind

The average American works 43 years (factoring in vacation time, holidays, and sick leave), or 1,944 hours per year (after time off), or 83,600 hours in their lifetime. The question everyone should be asking is: What am I working for? What is the reason I spend my time doing X when I would rather be doing Y? While the rare person may answer for self fulfillment, let's be honest - how many of you would continue showing up for work if your employer said you will no longer be paid? Would you go to work tomorrow, or would you spend your day doing something you love to do? Therefore, I think it's safe to most of us are working for money. Unfortunately, this is where most stop questioning. The next question is likely one of the biggest questions most people never ask, especially considering they'll spend 43 years of their life working for this thing.... What is money? Unfortunately, even those who have years of education, and degrees from prestigious universities may not be able to answer this question. Our education system has prepared us to work for 43 years, but has not taken the time to help us understand the one thing most of us are working for: money. So, what is money? * Money is a store of value: a way to trade your labor today for something you want or need in the future. e.g. you earn 10 apples today for mowing the lawn. You only need to eat 1 apple, so you store the other 9 for future use. * Money is a medium of exchange: exchanging something you have for something you want or need. e.g. You decide you want a carrot today instead of an apple, so you exchange one of your apples with the local farmer for a carrot. * Money is a unit of account: a common denominator for determining value. e.g. Of your remaining 8 apples, you decide you want a pumpkin pie, but there are 3 different pumpkin pies for sale at the local farmer's market. One pie is 8 apples, one pie is 5 apples, and one of the pies is 2 apples. All 3 pies look and smell delicious, so how do you know which pie is the best value? You use the common denominator (apples) to determine which pie will bring you the best value. While there is much more to explore on the topic of money, for now I encourage everyone to ask yourself: how does the money I'm trading my time for hold it's value? If you find your money is not performing it's role as a store of value very well, you may want to seek another option. Welcome to the rabbit hole!

Richard M. Ebeling's piece titled, "Ludwig von Mises on Reducing the Size and Scope of Government", in the August 2025 edition of Future of Freedom, cites Felix Morley stating: "so long as people believe that the national security is menaced by a foreign power which seems to make such outlay necessary. And as Americans are not naturally a belligerent people, a constant propaganda must be exercised to make it appear that the potential foe is the personification of evil, and a dire threat to everything that we traditionally hold dear.... It is impossible to spend a hundred million a day on defense without picturing a perfect enemy". What I find interesting is Morely's words above were written in 1957, yet appear more than applicable to the USA in 2025. https://www.fff.org/explore-freedom/article/ludwig-von-mises-on-reducing-the-size-and-scope-of-government/
