Join #Nostr That's what I said to someone when they shared their concern about the culture of social and mainstream media. As someone who has made it a personality trait to hate social media, I really do like Nostr. It's not designed by some now giant corporation to addict its users by feeding them what they want to see (which is sometimes what they don't want to see). I believe that social media is polarizing and I wouldn't be surprised at all if it really is just a pawn in another cold/social war. Insta, Snap, and FB are all terrible. National news only shows the bad. It's my opinion that at least with Nostr you are in control of what you see/follow. And for now the community is small enough that depending on what you follow you aren't going to be seeing much content so there's not much risk of doom scrolling. One of the main pieces of advice I get from accounting and business professionals is to have a social media, especially Linkedin, profile. (Did you know that there are "influencers" on linkedin?) I don't feel a need to try to keep up with posts and "being interesting" online just so that I can maybe find a better job. Sure there might be some cool opportunities, but why would Microsoft host such a big platform if they aren't getting something from it. (An estimate $16B of revenue for 2024 FYE, so I don't think they have the most pure intentions with their platform either). I don't voice my opinion on many topics but I'm a social media skeptic, and this is all to say that I truly believe Nostr can be different. I wasn't planning on interacting on the platform, but I think I've been won over, so I guess I'll make this my #introduction and first official #boom (as I've been told the posts should be called based on the ostrich mascot)
