In the first world, it's easy to overlook how valuable money actually is. That 1st edition Charizard can feed a family of 4. The bills add up. $55/mo for cellphone service doesn't seem so bad to us (Americans), because mobile internet is essential to life. But it's actually an absurd fee with way better alternatives. There are plenty of examples. People spend so much on subscriptions. $10 here, $10 there. It's easy to justify each one by itself, but it adds up. Not only does it slowly kill you, it's wasted potential. It's less invested in people. After seeing the true potential of small amounts of money, it has recontextualized how I view all purchases. I've started to adopt a much more disciplined mindset about money, similar to how I view veganism.

React Native has created a problem where, by bridging the gap between 3 major platforms, it has created a new gap between React Native and vanilla React. Component libraries must support either React Native or React, or jump through a bunch of hoops to support both. So now that React Native has "unified" the platforms, we need another layer to unify React itself so code can work for both React and React Native.

Never cheap out on disks. Or you will regret it at 5 o' clock in the morning.

On Mastodong the admin controls which custom emojis you can use. On Nostr users can add and use any custom emoji packs they want, and carry them across apps.
