Decided to test some solar at our place in Nairobi. Here we have 2 of our Whatsminer M31s running off of 8kW of solar, running through 8 batteries (20kWH) to give us approx 2 more hours of hashing each day. Will check the real numbers later, but we’re going to see if we can get 10+ hours per day off this setup. image

Had a good day checking out some geothermal in Kenya. A lot of opportunities in that space for mining.

Disappointed with the lack of technical honesty and lack of objectivity in MIT Tech Review piece on Bitcoin mining. “As long as bitcoin miners can profit from proof of work, Weaver says, they will choose proof of work: “The only way to reduce Bitcoin’s criminal energy consumption is for the value itself to be destroyed. If Bitcoin becomes worthless, then bitcoin mining stops.” Yes, incentives work. That’s why it was built this way. “Criminal”? Hyperbole is apparently good, solid media.
