Just booked my flight to Tokyo! It's official. Whether I'm returning to the US is an open question lol.

"Just design us a type of bulletproof glass that only authorized law enforcement bullets can penetrate." Sounds just as a dumb as "design us a cryptosystem which only authorized law enforcement keys can decrypt"

I was disappointed when the Pixel 7A phone was released without a ceramic body. The rumors all said it would. At least it's not glass backed. Why anyone would want more of a slippery, easily fractured material than strictly necessary on their pocket computer is beyond me.

Do politicians think strong encryption is suddenly going to be un-invented and forgotten? If you replace popular apps' end-to-end encryption with backdoored versions, criminals will simply switch to other apps. It makes no sense. A college sophomore could write an E2EE chat app and put it on GitHub in a week. Is all crypto going to be outlawed? What are they going to do about TLS? It's ludicrous.

I can check out an ebook from the library, but only if there are copies available. Think about that.

The new Flash movie was good for a DC movie, but that's not really saying much.

Anybody heard of this? Is it a NOSTR competitor? As far as I can tell it basically is NOSTR but for Ethereum, using smart contracts for coordination instead of relays. The Farcaster site's use of the term "sufficiently decentralized" and saying that it's in "private beta" makes me a bit wary though.

Failure to obtain a job isn't really failure. It's like Edison said: you have simply discovered one more way out of 10,000 to stay unemployed!

Backwards compatibility is like using Roman numerals. Only the Romans could design a numbering system so bad that we're still using it thousands of years later.

Apple sells you a glued together piece of crap for triple the price of an equivalent specs device from Dell or HP. Never liked it.
