okay so i finally set up bchpay.cash and i have to talk about how easy that was. no account to create. no long forms to fill out. no jumping between tabs trying to figure out what goes where. just one page, set your wallet address in settings, and you're ready to accept bch payments. that's genuinely it. what got me though was reading how it actually works under the hood. when someone pays, the bch goes straight to your wallet. not through a server, not through a third party, directly to you. you can even verify the destination address yourself on every payment screen. the whole thing is open source too, meaning anyone can check the code and confirm there are no hidden fees or tricks. and since your settings and transaction history are stored locally on your device, nothing gets sent to any server. i set this up thinking it would be complicated. it wasn't even close. if you've been putting off trying bchpay.cash because it sounds technical, don't. it really is as simple as it looks. 🌱 and since i now have this set up — if you're looking for a va, social media manager, or digital marketing specialist, whether long term, short term, or project-based, i'm open for hire and yes, i accept bch as payment. feel free to reach out. 🤝

found another nice surprise — paytaca, my bch wallet, has an eload feature built in. mobile load, cable bills, even gamepins, all payable straight from my bch balance. what got me was this: i earned that bch just by posting on bchnostr. and now i used it to load my own phone. from typing a post to topping up my load, just like that. it's a small thing, but it makes bch feel real. not just numbers in a wallet, but something i can actually use day to day. grateful for bchnostr and paytaca for making this possible. 🌱 see the tutorial below:

still uncovering new things on this platform, and today it's this — bch jobs. apparently there's a whole job board built right into bchnostr, freelance, contract, part-time, remote, you name it. scrolled through a bit and it's exactly what it sounds like. people posting gigs, others applying, and at least some of them paying out directly in bch. one listing even had a "pays in bch" tag, which honestly made me pause for a second. that's not a feature i expected to find tucked inside a social platform. as a va myself, this is the part that actually got me curious. imagine landing client work where the payment isn't routed through three different platforms and fees before it reaches you, it just goes straight to your wallet. i'm not applying to anything yet, just exploring what's possible here. but if this keeps growing, it might genuinely become a real option for freelancers looking for work that pays in bch instead of the usual. one feature down, curious what i'll stumble on next. 🌱

exhibit a: my laptop, this cafe, work tab technically open in the background. bchnostr really has become a whole lifestyle at this point and i'm not even sorry about it. wherever i am, whatever i'm supposed to be doing, there's a very good chance i've got this open somewhere too. work breaks, coffee runs, random pockets of time that used to go to mindless scrolling now just go here instead. not complaining though. if i'm going to be distracted, might as well be distracted by something that actually gives back. anyway, back to "work." no promises. 🌱😅

when people hear "bchnostr" for the first time, the assumption is usually that it's just another social media app with crypto bolted on for hype. fair guess, but not quite the full picture. nostr itself isn't an app, it's a protocol — basically a set of open rules anyone can build on, kind of like email. nobody owns email, lots of different apps can send and receive it, and it keeps working no matter which company comes or goes. nostr works the same way. no single company owns it, no single server can shut it down, and different apps and clients can all plug into the same network. here's the part i had slightly wrong before though — the broader nostr protocol is mostly built around bitcoin's lightning network for tipping. bchnostr is its own specific app built on top of that same open protocol, except instead of lightning, it runs on bch. so when you tip someone here, that's bchnostr's own setup making it possible, not something automatically baked into nostr itself. that distinction actually makes it more interesting, not less. it means someone deliberately built an entire bch-powered experience on top of an open, ownerless protocol, just to give bch its own home in that ecosystem. still learning the deeper technical layers myself, but even this much already explains why bchnostr isn't "just another crypto app" pretending to be different. 🌱

managing social media for a living means i’ve spent years studying what makes content “perform.” and on most platforms, performing usually means triggering something — outrage, urgency, a little bit of fear of missing out. the algorithm doesn’t care if it’s good, it cares if it keeps people scrolling. tipping on nostr works completely differently, and it took me a minute to actually notice why. nobody’s tipping because a notification told them to engage. there’s no algorithm deciding your post deserves a boost. someone reads something, it genuinely lands for them, and they choose, on their own, to put value behind it. that’s the whole mechanism. no manipulation required, no urgency baked in. it’s such a small shift but it changes what you end up writing. instead of chasing what performs, you start writing what’s actually true, because that’s the only thing that seems to land here anyway. still figuring out the rest of how this space works, but this part already feels like a better incentive than anything i’ve seen running campaigns on other platforms. 🌱

part of my job is social media management, so i know this from experience, not just theory — on most platforms, your content exists at someone else’s mercy. a post gets flagged, shadowbanned, or quietly buried by an algorithm update, and you’re left guessing why. no explanation, no appeal that actually goes anywhere, just gone or invisible. nostr flips that completely. there’s no central server deciding what’s “acceptable” today. no algorithm sitting between you and the people who want to see what you post. what you write is yours, stored across a network instead of one company’s database, which means no single platform can quietly bury it or you. i’m not saying that makes everything posted here automatically good, that’s a different conversation. but as someone who’s spent years managing accounts on platforms where visibility can vanish overnight for reasons you’re never told, there’s something genuinely freeing about a space where the only filter is the people actually reading. still new to all this, still learning the deeper mechanics of how it works under the hood. but from a content creator’s perspective alone, this already feels like a different kind of trust between platform and people.
