Is crypto legit now? (ft. Coffeezilla) - YouTube Entertaining video that gets some things right and some things wrong. I like to watch stuff like this from time to time to get a different angle on bitcoin and crypto from outside voices. There's plenty of cringe but its funny which helps. Most stuff on bitcoin are only cringe.

The Harsh Reality Of The Los Angeles Dodgers... This non-Dodger fan sums up my view of the Dodgers organization in the context of the league. For you Dodger haters I recommend watching this as he makes some great points about how the owners are really the ones fans should be angry with... not the league. Not the Dodgers. The Dodgers are the template, not the evil game destroying monster. But who am I kidding. Losers don't want this info. Only winners.

Why Socialism Just Won't Die - Reason An absolutely excellent video from Reason looking at the NYC mayoral race but zooming out of that to look at why Socialism is rising in the US. Well produced. Short and persuasive. But most importantly it is seeking to explain how we got here. Why is Socialism appealing and why liberal (libertarian) ideas are dying. I would argue on both political sides. In my circles I see two things. Friends worried about Christian Nationalism and Socialism. None of the people I know are concerned about both. Its one or the other. It is interesting to watch. @SimpleStacker they don't mention RR Reno but they should have. Really aligns with his book well. Just from a Libertarian view point looking outward. Like, how can Libertarians fix some of the weaknesses that may lead to Socialism having such an appeal.

This story is getting pushed as IBM and Bitcoin. There is no mention of bitcoin in the release. When will bitcoiners stop this nonsense. If they don't mention bitcoin... its just shitcoining. It comes off as weakness when people force "bitcoin" onto these weak PRs.

No One Knows What Bitcoin is - Here’s Proof. Joe Nakamoto > Bitcoin is "mainstream" they. Everyone knows about Bitcoin, they say. > Here's 21 people who would strongly disagree. I whole heartedly agree. We are VERY early no matter how many people in your personal circle know about it. Its easy to forget how early we are.

Letter to a Young Person Worrying About AI > It is possible to act without prediction. Most good businesspeople don't attempt to predict the future. They instead design their lives and organizations for fast adaptation under uncertainty. You can safely ignore any essay that attempts to predict the future. Just look at what is happening right now - you'll have plenty of time to adapt. ~ TLDR Newsletter

Claude Code is unreasonably good at building MVPs | Aaron Brethorst In my experience this has been true. LLMs have plenty of flaws but many can be overcome with skill/knowledge about how they work and how to minimize the effects. Time will tell how valuable these tools become and if they are profitable but it is promising for sure. > The counterargument I hear most often is that AI-generated code creates technical debt and quality problems. That’s absolutely true if you’re trying to ship Claude’s output directly to production. But for prototyping and validation, those concerns are premature optimization. You don’t need perfect code to validate whether people want your product. Like many things there is a desire in many of us to say it sucks. Especially if we feel threatened by it. This is even more true when people are clearly hyping something and being lose with facts and logic while doing so. Also true of the AI hype cycle. But, I have tried to push that stuff aside and see for myself if I can find use for these tools. I have access to many tools through work that I've been encouraged to evaluate. What I have seen so far does not threaten me in the slightest. One of the biggest things is that you can't trust these tools yet. I am not convinced you will ever be able to trust them. But if you have people that know what they are doing and have actual real world experience shipping software that works, on time and on budget these tools could be a massive boost to productivity. They aren't for the lazy. They aren't a replacement for devs. They seem to be an accelerant. If an engineer has experience with breaking down a project into small chunks and delegating tasks they have some of the skills to use LLMs with code generation effectively. But like working with a new junior dev, there is a learning curve. It is interesting to watch people that are clearly intimidated by the perceived threat. There's this idea that if they ignore them or refuse to use them they will go away. I really think my study of economics and economic history has helped me understand where to point my attention. I'm not gonna stop progress (if this is progress). As an economic actor my goal with work should be to make myself effective and indispensable. Its hard to do that with your head in the sand.

AWS services recover after daylong outage hits major sites > The outage was first reported at 3:11 a.m. ET in AWS’ main US-East-1 region hosted in northern Virginia. A notice on AWS’ status page said it was experiencing DNS problems with DynamoDB, its database service that underpins many other AWS applications. > "There are no solutions, only trade-offs" ~ Thomas Sowell AWS and its toolchain is amazing. Its also a point of failure.
