The AI companies haven't really started to economize their tooling. They don't need to as long as they have VC money. I think we will see a bubble pop but that will result in cutting a lot of waste. The worst will not survive.
I see a future of hybrid local/remote LLMs. In the future most people will use local AI for day to day things. It sounds crazy but I think Apple will lead the way here.
Heavy AI work will be done in the cloud. But the normies just might use their built in AI bots.
That's my positive view at least. The dystopian view is dark.

God's Socialist: The Rise and Fall of Peoples Temple
Not long ago I finished listening to this great podcast series from Martyrmade (Darrell Cooper). It is incredibly in-depth and unlike many portrayals of Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple he really seems to try to understand what happened instead of creating a caricature.
As a child of the 80s Jonestown was a huge deal. I remember watching the [TV movie]( and I know many others do as well. My wife and I decided to watch it again and it is very well done for the most part but one major thing stick out to me.
I have a pretty decent memory and when I was listening to Cooper's series I could not believe how much Jones promoted and advocated for Socialism. I had no memory of ever hearing this growing up. In fact, the title of the series "God's Socialist" is what led me to listen to the series.
To say the movie downplays this aspect is an understatement. It is wild to witness. Hollywood has always had a leftist bent. That's my theory at least for the absence of Socialist rhetoric. We often hear people talk about the dangers of socialism today but while the Cold War was in full swing the propaganda against it was weak. I have went back and watched actual US propaganda against the USSR and it is so weak its laughable.
I'm convinced at this point that the primary reason for this is that the US elite was and still is full of socialists and socialist friendly people. Some may be in denial about where they are and even the definitions of socialism. I'll just say this. Even on the right, the defense against this trash is weak. Has been from the beginning.
Go back and watch old films and entertainment and the anti-free-market anti-capitalism stuff is everywhere. Anti-socialism is not.

I haven't heard this yet but I'm reminded of the phrase, "this time it's different". I don't buy it.
